Water Districts

Most of the water districts on Mayne are improvement districts and are governed by a board of trustees, elected by the district property owners, one of whom acts as the board chair. The powers exercised by the trustees flow from the improvement district’s bylaws, the Local Government Act and other applicable provincial statutes. This enables the district to pass regulations on water use and to assess and collect taxes and tolls among other activities.

The day-to-day operations of many of the water districts are managed by part-time staff including a certified water system operator who is responsible for keeping the water flowing and safe to drink.

If your property is not serviced by its own well, you will have potable water provided by one of the over 10 water districts on Mayne. There are two districts that are operated by the CRD.

Information for most of the districts is below and may not be exact or current.  Please check with your water district for the most up-to-date information.
